who we are

J. DeVon Nolen, the TPMM Market Manager, has partnered since 1998 with community-based organizations by bringing powerful space activation to co-design program approaches that work best for our community. Program concepts are designed to raise awareness of the assets that already exist in North Minneapolis, and re-invest our local food economy to demonstrate what might happen if public funding was used more effectively to support the local food ecosystem. The recent closure of three retail food access points in North Minneapolis reinforces the need for a local, just food economy that can feed the citizens. This is a microcosm of a marco distribution problem that must be solved at the local level.

Welcome to North Minneapolis

A COMMUNITY OF RESILIENCE AND GROWTH

North Minneapolis is a vibrant community with a storied past and a promising future. Our goal is to illuminate the challenges and triumphs that have shaped our neighborhood, and to foster a deeper understanding of the systemic issues that continue to affect our residents.

History of North Minneapolis

Empowering North Minneapolis Through Comprehensive Support and Community Initiatives

At North Minneapolis Community Hub, we empower our community by offering comprehensive support and implementing targeted initiatives that address critical challenges. Our services encompass a wide range of areas including food security, education, healthcare, and housing stability. By fostering partnerships with local organizations, we create programs that not only meet immediate needs but also promote long-term sustainability and growth. Through these collaborative efforts, we aim to build a stronger, more resilient North Minneapolis, where every resident has access to the resources and opportunities they need to thrive.

VENDORS BENEFITS

Vendors play a crucial role in the marketplace, bringing a variety of products and services directly to consumers. One of the significant benefits for vendors is the opportunity to establish and grow their businesses, often starting with minimal overhead costs. By engaging directly with customers, vendors can build strong relationships and receive immediate feedback, which helps in refining their offerings. Success stories abound in the vendor community; for instance, a small bakery vendor who began selling pastries at a local farmers' market could expand into a thriving brick-and-mortar shop due to the loyal customer base and word-of-mouth promotion garnered from market sales. Similarly, artisans who showcase their handmade crafts at street fairs often find that their unique items attract a dedicated following, leading to increased sales and opportunities to collaborate with larger retailers. These narratives highlight how vendors can turn small ventures into significant business successes, benefiting from personal interactions and community support.
